Positioning
Starting Position: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Hold the barbell with both hands, palms facing up (supinated grip) and let it rest against your thighs.
Grip: Your hands should be approximately shoulder-width apart on the bar.
Posture: Keep your back straight, shoulders relaxed, and chest up. Engage your core for stability.
Movement
Begin Curl: Slowly bend your elbows to lift the barbell towards your chest. Keep your elbows close to your body and stationary; they should not move forward or backward during the lift.
Peak Contraction: Raise the barbell until it reaches your shoulder level. Hold this position for a moment to maximize the contraction in your biceps.
Lower the Weight: Gradually lower the barbell back to the starting position, ensuring that you maintain control and do not let the weight drop.
Repetitions: Perform 10-15 repetitions for 2-3 sets, resting for 30-60 seconds between sets.
Tips for Beginners
Start with lighter weights to master the form before adding more weight.
Avoid swinging your body or using momentum; the movement should be smooth and controlled.
Breathe out as you lift the barbell, and inhale as you lower it back down.
Safety
Warm up your arms and shoulders before starting.
If you experience pain (not to be confused with muscle fatigue), stop and reassess your form.
