90-to-90 to Shin Box Step Through
Positioning:
1. Begin seated on the floor with your legs bent at a 90-degree angle. Your right knee should be in front of you, and your left knee should be on the ground, creating a 90-degree angle.
2. Keep your feet flat on the floor and your torso upright.
3. Place your hands together in front of your chest to maintain balance and posture.
Movement:
1. From the starting position, shift your weight to your right leg and rotate your hips to bring your left leg into the same 90-degree position in front of your body. Your left knee should now be parallel to your right knee, both forming a 90-degree angle.
2. As you perform this movement, keep your back straight and ensure that you don’t lean too far forward.
3. Next, engage your core and push through your right foot to lift your body, transitioning into a standing position while keeping your left leg bent at a 90-degree angle.
4. Continue to rotate your hips and step through with your left leg, placing your left foot down into another 90-degree position on the opposite side.
5. Repeat the exercise by stepping back through with your right leg into the original position.
6. Aim for smooth and controlled movements throughout, focusing on flexibility and hip mobility.
Tips:
- Keep your movements slow and deliberate to enhance control.
- If you're struggling with balance, use your hands to support yourself on the floor until you feel comfortable.
- Make sure to breathe steadily throughout the exercise to help maintain rhythm and focus.
